Why It Matters

As part of All Our Babies: Birthing in the Afrofuture, the Your Voice, Our Future Storytelling Booths provide a space for community members to share their birth stories, hopes, fears, and dreams. These booths serve as an archive of lived experiences, recognizing the importance of every voice in shaping a new birthing future.

Through oral, audio, and written storytelling, participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Share personal or ancestral birth stories—Reflecting on the joys, challenges, and triumphs of Black birthing experiences.

  • Speak their dreams into existence—Envisioning a world where Black birth is safe, respected, and filled with joy.

  • Offer wisdom and affirmations—Sharing messages of healing, resilience, and empowerment for future generations.

By gathering these powerful narratives, Your Voice, Our Future will help build a collective story of Black birthing futures, ensuring that Black voices remain at the center of shaping policies, practices, and cultural shifts.

How It’s Used

Your story matters and we honor it with care. Stories shared through All Our Babies may be featured in community exhibitions, performances, publications, or our culminating event in September. They may also inform reports and programming that advocate for better care and visibility for Black birthing people and families. Whether through audio, visual art, or writing, your contribution helps us imagine and build a future rooted in dignity, wellness, and joy.
