James Quarles

James Quarles is a Local Cleveland who attended Shaker Hts. High School taking art classes from both  Keaf Holiday and Dan Whitely. After graduating in 2005, he then went to CCAD (Columbus College of  Art and Design) where he majored in Fine Arts and Graphic Design. After graduating in 2009, he returned home to Cleveland to pursue his passion of art through painting, screen printing, drawing, and writing. There multiple mediums displayed, but primarily acrylic paint is the weapon of choice. He also used found objects to give alien surfaces a touch of home. This show in focuses on color, illustration, and cultural icons whose work he has found influential. The other fictional characters throughout the show are pulled from pop culture, and folk references as well. Adding to the collective landscape and lore that is both familiar and new.
