Maya Peruone

Maya Peroune is a Black and female photographer who was raised in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Understandings of race and diversity from formative childhood years inform her perspective on the world and guide her artistic endeavors. Peroune utilizes vivid color patterns, abstract concepts, fashion, historical storytelling and the interplay of light and shadows to investigate the African Diaspora in her photographs. Through each image, Peroune aims to invoke hope, spawn conversations, and foster deeper understanding and human connections. She is currently studying photography at The School of Visual Arts in New York City.
