Artist Submission

We are seeking submissions from artists to participate in an exciting new project that explores the intersection of Afrofuturism and Black maternal health. This project aims to bring visibility and creative expression to the narratives surrounding Black womanhood, motherhood, and wellness through the lens of Afrofuturism—a genre that envisions a future shaped by Black cultural experiences, histories, and innovations.​

About the Project:

This project will explore the ways in which Afrofuturism can offer new possibilities for Black maternal health, empowering narratives of resilience, healing, and empowerment.

Through visual art, we seek to highlight the complexities of Black maternal experiences, imagining futures where care, joy, strength, and hope are integral to Black motherhood.

What We Are Looking For

Visual Art (paintings, illustrations, digital art, mixed media, photography, sculpture, crafts etc.), performances, documentaries, writings, furniture and housewares (Afrofuturistic and/or reimagined).

Artist will need to submit a sample of existing work and a concept design for this project.

Come work with us

Artist should submit a sample of existing work and a concept design for this project.

Eligibility

  • Open to all artists, with a particular emphasis on Black artists, regardless of location or experience level

  • Submissions can be individual or collaborative
     

How to Submit:

  • Please submit up to 5 high-resolution images of your work, along with a brief artist statement (max 300 words) describing how your work connects to the theme of Afrofuturism and Black maternal health

  • Submit work by [insert submission deadline]

  • Include your full name, contact information, and any relevant social media or website links
